The American brand presented the renewal of the world's best-selling pick-up. Here are the main details. Very close to where the Detroit Auto Show will be held and right in front of General Motors headquarters, Ford unveiled the renewed F-150 2024 with new technologies, an updated image and an improved tailgate. With a celebration for America's most popular vehicle: a festival was held at Hart Plaza that included food, live music (including country singer Miko Moon) and, most importantly, the unveiling of a refreshed version of the best-selling pickup (F-150). The 2024 F-150 will launch next year with an updated look, increased availability of its popular hybrid variant, a new Pro Access tailgate, many off-road-oriented options and many other new and improved features. The refreshed pickup retains the platform introduced in 2021, mounted on a fully boxed steel chassis and clad in an aluminum alloy body. The pickup is offering class-leading maximum available payload capacity and class-leading maximum available towing capacity. The model was refreshed with what Ford describes as a more modern look, including options such as a black appearance package offered on STX through Lariat versions. The Dearborn-based manufacturer has reduced ordering complexity on the F-150 by 90 percent compared to the 2023 model. For example, on the F-150 Raptor, last year's model included 40 possible configurations; while the 2024 will have only six. Other highlights include an available on-board generator and access to Ford's hands-free highway driving system. Moreover, it will be offered with a class-exclusive 5G LTE modem, which enables features such as over-the-air software updates and in-vehicle Wi-Fi. The 2024 F-150 will feature a new standard engine, Ford's 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine, with improvements in horsepower and torque. Other engine options include a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V-6, a 3.5-liter PowerBoost V-6, a 3.5-liter high-performance V-6 in the F-150 Raptor, a 5.0-liter V-8 and a 5.2-liter supercharged V-8 in the F-150 Raptor R.
