Jeep updates Renegade in Europe and could come to Argentina

Jeep Renegade

The American brand's SUV gets a slight facelift in the Old Continent and adds new technology. The Jeep Renegade has been on the Argentine market for eight years and had two updates, one in 2019 and another in mid-2022. Now, a new facelift of the B-segment SUV was presented in Europe, which although it does not adopt the redesign it had in South America, presents slight changes and adds technology inside. Here are the details: New Jeep Renegade: what's new As we said, the Renegade in Europe still has the same line that was updated in 2018/9, without the updates it had in 2022 (remember that the one sold in Argentina comes from Brazil). Anyway, the SUV B adds a black exterior package and metallic lower protections. Two versions will also be added to the Renegade range: Summit and Altitude, which will feature roof rails and full LED lights front and rear. Wheels will be available up to 18 inches. New Jeep Renegade: interior The most important part of this redesign is inside, where you are greeted by a new 10.1-inch screen that seems to protrude from the centre console (the Brazilian one is 8.4" and is integrated), and a 10.25" digital dashboard (7" in Argentina). In addition, the Renegade in Europe debuts the newly designed steering wheel already offered in this part of the planet in both the SUV B and higher models. A not minor detail is that in the Old Continent is offered the optional heated steering wheel, which here is not. Jeep Renegade restyling: powertrains In this aspect the SUV also varies with respect to Argentina, at least for now. In Europe, the Renegade offers a hybrid engine composed of a 1.5 L Turbo and an electric engine, which together produce 130 hp and 240 Nm of torque, and are coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. In South America it's all different: the Renegade is offered with two 100% combustion engines: 1.8 L aspirated 130 hp with a 5a manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic (now discontinued). 1.3 L Turbo "T270" with 175 bhp and 270 Nm, with a 6-speed automatic gearbox or a 9-speed automatic gearbox (Trailhawk version only). Will a hybrid engine arrive in Argentina for the Renegade? The anxiety needs to be calmed; although Stellantis has confirmed that its first hybrid models made in Brazil will debut in 2024, it is not yet known which vehicle will carry them, and the departure of the Renegade from the United States also leaves some uncertainty. In any case, if a hybrid powertrain were to be used for the B SUV, it would be either a conventional or a plug-in one, on the "T270". In Europe, a Compass PHEV is sold with a 180 hp 1.3-litre turbocharged engine, which together with the electric motor produces 240 hp at all four wheels, and could be similar to what we would see in the upcoming Jeep hybrids.
