The BMW M4 receives an update with more power and aesthetic changes

FEBRUARY 01, 2024

The current generation of the BMW M4 has reached its mid-life cycle and is launching an upgrade to keep it up to date. As is customary in this industry, after a few years of life (generally four) of the models it is common to see an update in different areas to bring it up to date. In the case of the BMW M4, the changes have focused on its image and slightly under the hood (yes, the grill remains the same). BMW M4 LCI: mechanical changes Starting with the most important thing, which is performance in this type of model, the most relevant thing is that both the coupe and convertible versions of the M4 Competition with xDrive all-wheel drive will increase their power by 20 HP, reaching 530 HP, while the torque it remains the same. In the case of the Coupé model, acceleration from 0-100 km/h is done in just 3.4 seconds, while the Convertible model takes 3.6 seconds. In both cases the maximum speed is limited to 250 km/h, although with the optional "M Drivers Package", the limit can be raised to 290 km/h for the coupe and 280 km/h for the convertible. The rear-wheel drive models of the Competition maintain the same 510 HP, while the “common” M4 continue with 480 HP. Unlike other sports cars, the M4 can still be chosen with a 6-speed manual gearbox and offer a huge number of customization options. BMW M4 LCI: Even more extroverted image For this update, BMW decided to follow the path of light changes and broadly speaking the base design remains intact, and that is bad news for all those who complained about the peculiar and controversial front (which over time you end up getting used to). We are in an era where BMW M products are breaking sales records, which tells us that real customers of this car love what they see and what they drive. At the front, the most noticeable thing is the new headlights that, according to the brand, better manage light distribution both in traditional lighting and with high beams. The DRL signature receives a change in shape, which the brand calls “arrowhead”. The sides remain intact, except for some new wheel designs. The rear features “laser lighting” lights that are derived directly from the M4 CSL. Finally, for those who want a more distinctive look, BMW offers a new vinyl kit (quite controversial) to highlight the figure of the car, which can be applied to the hood or sides. BMW M4 LCI: Interior Inside everything remains similar with the huge curved frame containing two 12.3-inch screens for the digital dashboard and multimedia system. These elements will run with the BMW OS 8.5 operating system, so they have eliminated more buttons from the dashboard to transfer their functions directly to the screen. You can choose between sports seats or competition seats with a carbon fiber structure and various levels of customization of colors, materials and interior equipment elements. The difference in this update is that all M4s will have matte graphite gray base upholstery as standard. Production of this updated model will begin in March of this year and we hope it arrives in Argentina, although the "pre restyling" M4 Competition was only launched a few months ago.
